Supply Chain Transitioning
End-to-End Management with Results
Changing suppliers can cause significant disruption to your project, but it’s often a necessary change. No matter the reason for transition - whether for cost reduction, supplier exit, or repositioning - Intertec Engineering’s Transition Process can be tailored to fit the needs of your company.
Our team can focus on any point in the process or manage the entire project for you. With a wide range of experts available to be reached at any time, we will provide unmatched support for your supply chain.
Transition Process
Based on the results of our investigation, our multi-disciplined team will establish a risk level and recommend the most suitable transition plan for each part you wish to transition.
To ensure a successful transition, Intertec will help with:
Intertec’s extensive engineering experience allows us to gain a comprehensive overview of all testing requirements for any system or component, ranging from ignition systems and sensors to valves, oil pumps, machined parts, castings and forgings, to complex components.
Model & drawing creation or revision
Identifying functional test requirements
Identifying metallurgical evaluation requirements
Identify qualification requirements
Our goal is to ensure that any new vendor can accurately interpret the drawings, and that the product you designed is the product you receive - whether it comes from the local shop or from across the world. The Intertec Engineering team will stay engaged every step of the transition execution to ensure a seamless transition.
Once all steps are executed, the parts are ready for production.
During the Supplier Engagement phase, our buyers will help with the negotiations of long-term contracts and placing purchase orders. While this occurs, our engineers will stay engaged with suppliers during their manufacturing processes, tooling development, and parts manufacturing.
Our team will ensure that the validation/substantiation steps established during the evaluation of requirements are executed and all issues identified during this phase are communicated back to the supplier and solutions are identified.
Design to Cost Mindset
70% of a product’s manufacturing costs can be determined at the design stage, which is why it’s crucial to invest efforts from the forefront. In doing so, you can identify cost reduction opportunities - which is precisely what we do with a design to cost mindset.
Our team of manufacturing engineers and designers can analyze your designs and propose less costly processes. By modifying the design based on this, we ensure reliable maintenance of your cost targets, as well as discovering new opportunities to increase the robustness of your product.
With Intertec Engineering’s Six Sigma certified team, we apply lean principles to reduce manufacturing costs and optimize your manufacturing processes.
